So I received the item I ordered as a review blogger through eShakti:
A grey circle skirt made of menswear material.
It is lovely and light. I love the color and the fabric. THERE ARE POCKETS!!! I am a little obsessed with pockets lately. The last dress I received from eShakti was a lovely 50's style dress, in a light cotton jean material. It also has pockets. :o) But more on that later.
What I love love love about eShakti is that all their items are customizable. I've long felt that if I could only *sew* I'd create some awesome pieces.
Well, I can't sew. At least, not clothing.
My first free item from eShakti was a sheath dress that was lined and I did not realize how much I could change. I took it as it was and the dress is too long; I'll have to get it hemmed myself.
With the jean dress (also had pooooockets!) I altered the sleeveless silhouette to more of a halter neckline, although it was not a straight halter, but had straps that cut in towards my neck but then went straight over my shoulders. There was a removable tie-bow (removed!!) and, did I mention the pockets? It is knee-length, as this circle skirt is. (I love this dress, if it's not clear!)
The only thing I was a little dismayed to find when I received the skirt was how thin the fabric really was. It was advertised as an "all season" skirt but it is clearly much too thin for winter (and this one is unlined), even with boots and tights. I like it so much, I might wear it anyway (if anyone has any suggestions to allow wearing a thinner skirt in winter, I'm all ears!!). The length is perfect and I love how much fabric there is. I can wear it with flats (I have gray ones that will match perfectly!) or heels, either way emphasizing the 50's style of the skirt. I liked matching it with modern peep-toe booties, making it look sharp and edgy.
I purchased a size 6, which is what I've been wearing the last few months. It fit, but just so. I'll be worried about washing it. I'd say, perhaps buy one size up, to make sure you're comfy, as their items seem to be cut a little small. There are complete measurements and a sizing chart, but I fit the measurements and it still seems a little snugger than I'd choose were I in the store trying it on.
They are super-fast; I ordered on a Thursday and I believe I had it, custom-made and shipped from India (I know, I know!!) by the following Wednesday. Pretty awesome!
